Fourth of July Summertime Soirée Celebration at Half-Mile Farm
Celebrating the height of summertime in the mountains, Half-Mile Farm is pleased to welcome back McCalister Russell and her family’s fifth generation Providence Farmstead, where the Russell family focuses on growing the sustainable, humane American Wagyu beef in Otto, NC, just down the road from Highlands.
Weekend Events:
Friday, July 4
- Woodland View Room at 4pm McCalister Russell of Providence Farms in Otto, NC will present the story of her family’s farm, their new dairy and their commitment to transparency and care.
- Friday Special Summertime Social Hour from 5 - 6pm will feature complimentary hors d’oeuvres including specialty Providence Farm American Wagyu beef cuts prepared by Half-Mile Farm Chef Jason Tardo with craft beverages available from the J. Henry Farmhouse Tavern and live music by Paul Jones till 8pm.
- Giant Jenga, cornhole and dice games on the lawn.
Saturday, July 5
- Breakfast In the Woodland View Room from 8 - 10:30 am will include specialty Providence Farmstead American Wagyu beef cuts prepared Half-Mile Farm Chef Jason Tardo.

About Providence Farmstead
While they came from different parts of the country, Georgia native C.A. Russell and California native Kirsten Clauss both shared a common passion for agriculture and family farming. After working together for 30 years in California, raising their family, and developing a nationally recognized Jersey Dairy, the couple has turned their compass back East towards the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Providence Farmstead represents the next chapter in their farming journey. Working together with their children Colin, Lars, and McCalister, the focus today for this innovative agricultural family is to provide premium American Wagyu beef to Northeast Georgia and Western North Carolina. Their 100-acre farm in Otto, NC and 200-acre farm in Demorest, GA provide an idyllic setting for raising family-farmed American Wagyu beef.
