A Weekend of Culinary Curiosity at Half-Mile Farm with Dream Big Farms Mushrooms.

Step into the fascinating world of fungi with a hosted weekend at Half-Mile Farm featuring the passionate growers behind Dream Big Farms Mushrooms. Known for their sustainably cultivated gourmet mushrooms and infectious enthusiasm, the team will share their journey from spore to harvest—and all the delicious possibilities in between.

  • Friday and Saturday from 5 - 6 pm, Join Dream Big owner and founder Zachary Canu for our Social Hour with Dream Big-inspired hors d’oeuvres from Half-Mile Chef Jason Tardo along with specialty cocktails available for purchase in the J. Henry Farmhouse Tavern and live music from Paul Jones till 8pm.
  • Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 - 10 am, Enjoy breakfast in the Woodland View Room featuring some of Dream Big’s delicious mushrooms, with Chef Jason Tardo serving up the delicacies. 
  • Saturday at 4 pm in the Woodland View Room, learn from Zachary on the art and science of mushroom cultivation, and discover how these earthy wonders make their way from farm to table. With plenty of opportunities to taste and fascinating facts along the way, this will be a weekend for food lovers and curious minds alike.

Nestled in the scenic town of Otto, just down the mountain from Half-Mile Farm, Dream Big Farms Mushrooms is a family-owned indoor farm dedicated to cultivating fresh, gourmet mushrooms using sustainable practices. Founded by Zachary Canu, an agricultural professional with over a decade of experience, the farm specializes in a diverse array of mushroom varieties, including Lion’s Mane, King Trumpet, Blue Oyster, and Golden Oyster mushrooms. Operating from a USDA GAP Certified facility, Dream Big Farms emphasizes natural growing techniques and minimal waste. They compost spent mushroom blocks and utilize compostable packaging to ensure environmental responsibility.

Beyond cultivation, the farm offers a range of mushroom-related products, such as Lion’s Mane tinctures and capsules, garlic mushroom herb salt, and ready-to-fruit mushroom blocks for home growers. They also engage with the community through mushroom dinners, foraging classes, and guided farm tours, sharing their passion for fungi with enthusiasts and newcomers alike. Their commitment to quality, sustainability, and education makes them a standout in the world of gourmet mushrooms.
