Text, Letter

June 30 - July 2, 2023 June 30, 2023 July 2, 2023 Old Edwards Hospitality Group

This special artistic weekend will feature the return of husband and wife duo, writer John T. Edge and artist Blair Hobbs.

Weekend Events:

  • Social Hour Friday and Saturday from 5-6 pm hosted by Blair Hobbs and John T. Edge with complimentary hors d’oeuvres and special cocktails, including a Mezcal Old Fashioned favored by the couple, will be available for purchase in J. Henry Farmhouse Tavern. Live music by guitarist, Paul Jones, from 5-8.
  • Tasting & Talk Saturday from 4-5 pm with one of the South’s most interesting couples. Sample a recipe from John T.’s mother for her famous catfish stew (as prepared by Blair) and sip on a ginned-up version of an Old Fashioned. The round-table style chat will center on the importance of creativity, hosting TrueSouth, being an editor at Garden & Gun, and—of course—catfish stew!
  • Breakfast on Sunday from 8-10:30 am will include favorites from Blair and John T. prepared by Half-Mile Farm Chef Jason Tardo, and a special treat from Alecia’s Specialty Foods in Alabama.
  • Throughout the weekend, Blair’s unique artwork will be displayed in the Main House courtesy of Spalding Nix Fine Art of Atlanta.

About Blair Hobbs
Blair is a senior lecturer at the University of Mississippi where she teaches Creative Writing. She is also an accomplished artist.

Blair Hobbs likes to find weird surprises in the mundane world. Primarily, she finds bright oddities in plants, animals, and the human body. Each canvas is a box of assembled visual cues that form an imagined narrative, and those narratives range from bittersweet (or just bitter) to magical to eerie to humorous. Many pieces include written words that prompt or propel the narrative.
